Flow and visibility

The Una is a karst river and stays clear for most of the year, but it responds quickly to rain in the surrounding hills: a summer storm can raise it half a metre in three hours and colour it for a day. The tufa barriers mean the pools stay deep even at low water, so the grayling fishing holds up through the summer when smaller Balkan rivers are too low.
